El Dahar (Dahar, Down Town, Old City)
Dahar (DOWN TOWN) - According to general information, it is used to be a village of English oil workers, built in the late 1920s. It includes the districts: El Hilal, El Qayadat, El Wafa, Gabel El Harim, Arabia, Salam, Khafr El Batten. The main roads of Dahar are: Nasser Street, Corniche (street stretching along the waterfront), Hegaz Highway and Salam Street (Mira Street). Dahar was once considered the business center of Hurghada. This is the heart of Hurghada, in which the main administrative buildings of the city are located and where about 70% of its local population lives. Here is the El-Mina Mosque, the largest in the resort.
Today, Dahar is gradually losing its significance as a business center - many company offices, banks are moving to another part of Hurghada - Sakkala (Sheraton Street). On the southern outskirts of Dahar, near the square with the Dolphin (Dolphin Sq.), the Hurghada Business Center is located.
In El Dahar, it is easy to get lost in the intricacies of narrow streets filled with numerous souvenir shops, hookahs, restaurants and cafes.
The beaches in El Dahar are small, compact, most often with mixed - sand + shell rock - the entrance to the water. There are also sections with a rocky sunset, like the tourist old-timer hotel King Tut Aqua Park Beach Resort 4 *.
Hotels in the Old Town are well sheltered from the wind. But not from the hustle and bustle of busy streets. Due to the city noise and not the newest hotels, accommodation prices here are the lowest in the city and its environs.
